Agenda & Meeting Notes:

1. Email list updates & new emails

• 7TL has been updated to include all new members + Lee. Martha H. has been left on the list.
• 7TLT (Teaching/Learning Teachers) list created, includes fauclty team members only.

2. Learning Community Issues

• How is enrollement?
  • Two communities very healthy
    • 50 in John and Christian's community
    • 24 in cultural studies
  • One very weak community: video game development only has 5 students.
• Must promote classes next semester!! Potential strategies include:
  • Table toppers in cafeteria
  • Posters
  • Ruler/bookmark
  • Email advertisements
    • Judy Keller can email students with DCCCD address
    • We can get other addresses from Teresa Isabell's office
    • Sharon and Gemmy Allen spammed this semester -- it is possible!!
  • Better website!!!!! (anything official must be done through PI)
    • Possibly link desired LC site to existing Active Learning site
  • Need to shoot video and take photos this semester
    • Photo releases available through J. Browning.
    • George Marquez has volunteered to help
  • Prototypes due October 1.

3. Pressure from deans to justify committee work

• All agree this is a negative trend and needs to be addressed as soon as possible since we are now in the planning stages for the next semester.
• Meeting scheduled with Paul Kellerman and Linda Glasscock for Sept. 14th at 1:00
• We really have two issues -- load for team members, and load for LC participants.
• Open with ILC presentation
• More discussion of this issue next week.

4. Teaching Squares update

• So far six participants.
• Team members need to knock on doors and get people to sign up!

5. Group Update/documentation initiated on Collaborative Faculty Efforts for the semester

• Need to document class swaps as well as full-fledged communities.

6. Emotional Intelligence --presenter -- conflict

• Conflict with hazily-understood presenters hired by college.
• Sherry Boyd will see if our presenter can move to the 7th
• Fajitas from OTB are the suggested foodstuff.
• Jim and Sharon will pik up food.
• Use Sonya's leftover brains. (I loved typing that, Sonya! -- SH)
• Can we get books as door prizezs?
  • Suggested title: Primal Leadership
• UPDATE: Speaker rescheduled for 10/7.

Other Issues Not On Agenda

• Possibility of an LC at DFW Ctr. discussed
• Brief discussion of plans for L240 space. Seems we will have 4 mtgs. with an architect soon. Joe and Sonya (and others??) are in posession of email from John H., will forward to the entire group. Unsure if stated price includes everything, or if it's just architect fees.
