Notes from Conversation with Paul
- Gee, we have a disconnect.
- One potential duty for this group is core cirric. evaluation.
- LC concept need to be explored more fully according to Linda. Possibly visits to other campuses.
- LCs are currently expensive. Dollars will be stretched in the near future, we will be accountable for spending.
- LCs need to be cohort-level endeavors, trackable and evaluation-able.
- Title 5 grant to strengthen institutions.
- Paul strongly feels we should work within a cohort So we can better monitor and get more funding.
- Must have measurables!!
- Sherry feels if we can't get measurable, the instructors shouldn't get to renew their LC.
- Sonja says Evergreen has measurement tools we need to purchase.
- Sharon worries we're loosing our median students in the cohort shuffle. LCs are transformational, and every NLC student needs this experience.
- Ivan feels we are directionless. We need authority and a mission.
- Sonja reiterates we are not supported from the top down.
- Paul would like to see this group work with deans and himself to define goals of LCs. Deans will be insulting. We have to deal with it. We have to understand the needs of the deans?
- Who needs to be involved?
- Paul
- All deans
- Some members of TL
- Who needs to be involved?
- How do we get statistical data from current LCs?
- Paul needs to do this
- Paul will draft email for us to review before sending.
- Gather more data than you think you will need.
- What happens next semester?
- Lee: Decide as a group. What could happen next semester to students in existing LCs
- Allows us to manage enrollment.
- In the next six months:
- Define the team's mission again
- Evergreen summer conference
- Re-evaluate LCs into cohort lines to incorporate measurability -- this needs to be a specific blank on the application
- Look at assessment tools
- Paul wants to see Evergreen assessment tools.
- Commitment from Paul to attend out meetings once a month.
