Project Two: Your Choice

Create a two-page website on any topic using the techniques we have covered this semester plus one new thing you have discovered on your own. Must use absolute positioning. Due last Saturday of class. Be prepared to discuss your "new thing" that night.

Read Swag: Multi-Column Lists and create your own multi-column lists as you read.

Group Project: del.icio.us, digg, and StumbleUpon -- what are these? Report back next class.

Project Two (due 3/23)

Create a three-page website for a band named "Uncertainty." The site must

  • Use a multi-column layout -- use any method you like, including the Floatutorial method or the newer Out of the Box method.
  • Use image replacement (whole chapter on this in Zen CSS book)
  • Have a microformat HCard for the band, and microformat geo tags for the band's next concert venue
  • As a nearly-last step sign up for a trial account with BrowserCam.com and double-check your site. If you have serious cross-platform problems, fix them!

XHTML A and B (NOTE: You don't have to read Castro -- we can get by with the W3 School's XHTML Guide) (due next class)

Templates: Working as a group, see how many common page layouts you can come up with, and then locate templates for each layout. Compile your results on a web page, including comments on the shortcomings and advantages of each template. (Due Feb. 16)

Accessibility: On your own, using your grid assignment as a starting place, create a two-column floated layout. In the main content area, place a form to help a person report a problem with a product made by your fictional company. The form should include (Due Feb. 9)

  • Text boxes

  • A drop-down box
  • Radio buttons

It should also validate through CynthiaSays for WCAG accessibility, and should be friendly for a color-blind audience.
